Introduction
Welcome to the NatSIP-CRIDE Longitudinal Study Home Page.
The purpose of the Longitudinal Study, developed through collaborative working between NatSIP, University College London, City, University of London, and the Consortium for Research in Deaf Education, is to investigate the relationships between pupil, provision and outcomes/participation variables with the overall aim of improving provision and outcomes for children and young people with hearing impairment.
The Study will operate over a seven year period. The first three years of the project are being grant funded by the Ovingdean Hall Foundation.
YEAR THREE
We are pleased to announce that the online survey questionnaire for Year Three of the NatSIP-CRIDE Longitudinal Study is now live. The survey questionnaire can be accessed through the following link: Survey Questionnaire - which can be accessed here.
HI Teams who have previously participated in the Longitudinal Study
HI Teams who have previously returned data on individual pupils will already have obtained consent within their LAs for participation in the Study. These HI Teams are now invited to submit the data specified for Year Three in the questionnaire for the same pupils who were previously selected.
It will also be possible to make returns on any other pupils within the same National Curriculum Year cohorts, even though data has not previously submitted on these pupils. Such data will be welcomed as it will increase the Study's benchmarking potential.
HI Teams who have not previously participated in the Longitudinal Study
It is appreciated that workload issues have led to some HI Teams being unable to commit to taking part in the Study, despite their expressions interest. HI Teams who would now like to be involved will be welcome to join the Study in Year Three. Retrospective submission of data for Years One and Two will not be required.
HI Teams wishing to participate are advised to seek appropriate clearance from their LA's senior management beforehand. We have provided an optional Sample Consent Form for teams to use internally; it does not need to be returned to the Study.
To make returns on individual pupils in the appropriate NC Year cohorts, HI Teams should use the link (Survey Questionnaire - which can be accessed here) for the online survey questionnaire. The questionnaire has been designed to include all essential guidance and response options for data entry and submission.
Supporting documents available to all HI Teams for Year Three:
To assist HI Teams collecting data on individual pupils in readiness for entry on the online questionnaire, Individual Pupil Data Collection Forms for Year Three are available. These forms are optional and should not be returned to the Study.
The forms available are:

A reference copy of the Survey Questionnaire (in Microsoft Word Format) is also available. This document, which lists all the questions and response options and includes additional information/guidance, has been prepared for reference when completing the forms. It is available in two versions:
a) documentA version for printing out (the 'hard copy' version, which shows all the response choices for each question)
b) documentA version for completion on-screen . (This version has on-screen drop-down lists of response options)

Deadline for submissions
The deadline for Year Three individual pupil data submissions has been extended from the end of the Summer Term 2020 to the end of December 2020 in view of the Covid lockdown situation.
