The focus of this online event will be on promoting independence and exploring the resources which are available to support this.
Delegates will hear directly from young people, who will tell us what independence means to them. Specialist teachers of deaf children and young people, vision impairment and multi-sensory impairment will also contribute from their perspective and experience.
The trainers:
- Steph Halder from BATOD
- Caireen Sutherland from RNIB
- Michelle Jones from Seashell Trust
The recently published curriculum framework for children and young people with vision impairment (CFVI) was mentioned in the UK parliament as a support to learning and independence. Caireen Sutherland will be discussing Phase 2 of the project. Steph Halder will be introducing the working progress of the deaf curriculum framework and explaining how it could be used in your work with deaf children and young people. Michelle Jones will be exploring resources for learners with MSI.
During the event:
During the morning we will use break out rooms, which will be sensory impairment-specific, giving attendees the opportunity to examine and discuss resources and strategies available to support the development of independence skills in their specialist area.
Cost:
