Caireen Sutherland, BPHIL, MSc, PG DIP, PGCE

Caireen is a qualified teacher for vision and multisensory impairment and has been working in the field of SEND since 1999.

She currently works as Prorgramme Lead and Senior Lecturer on the MSI MQ at Seashell Trust.  She has previously worked in local authority sensory support services, with third sector organisations, and as a freelance consultant.

Her particular passions include:

  • optimising independence for children and young people with sensory impairments through the use of supporting frameworks such as CFVI
  • developing tactile learning skills,
  • improving use of technology,
  • awareness and support for young people with CVI (Cerebral Visual Impairment)
  • maximising the benefit of functional vision assessments.

Alongside her role at Seashell Trust, Caireen continues to undertake consultancy work and to allocate time to supporting iniiatives across the sensory sector.
